I start with people, places, or things as I see them, then work to capture what I see and transform it using paint (and other media) to express light and color and form. The paint surface is important to me as well as the shapes of space broken up and held together in composition. Realism and abstraction are in tension as I work on the surface of the plane. My goal is to end up with a work that makes my heart sing.
